Feeling anxious about your upcoming travel nurse assignment? You needn’t be, but it’s natural to have a few nervous butterflies in your stomach—especially if this is your first, or one of your first, travel placements. But whether your travel assignment will take you to Brooklyn or anywhere else in the country, there’s good news: you’ll be in very good company!
In 2015, travel nursing hit an all-time high. According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics, nursing employment is growing much faster than the national average (compared to other occupations). As it turns out, one of the best resources for information about your upcoming placement is your fellow travel nurses. And with the boom in travel nursing, the possibility that other travel nurses are currently on assignment at your upcoming location is high. You’ll just need to get in contact with them—and your recruiter08 can help.
Check with your recruiter and explain your concerns. He or she can work with you to find out if your future travel facility currently has travel nurses on staff. You’ll be able to get contact information and reach out—introduce yourself and chat with them about Brooklyn, the hospital itself and anything else you’ll need to know to prepare.
The questions you ask a fellow travel nurse will help you decide what to pack and can also help determine your living arrangements while you’re on assignment. Consider asking any (or all!) of the following:
You might also want to find out if the nurse you spoke with will still be on assignment when you arrive. It can help to start with one friend as you begin your new assignment.
TaleMed can help. We’ll work with you to find travel nurse assignments across the country, in cities such as Brooklyn, New Orleans, San Diego, Durham, Austin, and more. You can find out more about what we offer on our nursing page, or contact one of our experienced recruiters today!
TaleMed is pleased to announce our 2017 Calendar Photo Contest!
We put health care professionals on assignment to do the work they love – in places they fall in love with. We want to help all travel health care professionals find your place, by seeing the places you have fallen in love with. Submit photos of the cities, season, views you have fallen in love with.
Four healthcare professionals that have found their place will receive an Echo Dot. Winners will be announced every 13 weeks! Eight honorable mention winners will also be chosen and announced in November 2017.
The twelve winners selected will see their photos in the 2018 Find Your Place Calendar. So set your cameras to high resolution and start snapping those photos. If you have already taken an award winning photo please feel free to submit. Photographs will be accepted from any healthcare professional that would like to participate.
