Central Brazil Mission is a faith based mission that falls in line with TaleMed dedication to support our local and global communities in any way we can. The Central Brazil Mission – Project Amazonas: Christ, Life, and Health was founded seventeen years ago by Earl and Ruth Anne Hauber. CBM is a boat that has been retrofitted to act as a medical clinic that houses doctors, nurses, and many other volunteers. The boat runs along the Amazon river. It goes out on multiple ten-day trips per month to service remote villages with medical needs. This mission is funded by hundreds of churches, organizations, and individuals that believe in the work of CBM and are dedicated to reaching these villages to meet their needs medically and spiritually.
“We came to Brazil in July 1969 and just celebrated 47 years of missionary service here in Brazil in July of 2016. We live in central Brazil in the city of Goiânia. Since we began this ministry in the Amazon region of Brazil we can certainly see the need for a ministry that will meet the needs of the whole person. That’s why it is called: “Project Amazon: Christ, Life and Health.” We want these people to know Jesus and to have “an abundant life” in and with Him.” – Earl Hauber
TaleMed Board Member and new Clinical Director, Susan Abbott has deep roots in this mission and has been for the better part of 8 years. Susan came on board at TaleMed as our Clinical Director in July of 2017 and we are excited to learn from the experience and wisdom she will bring to the TaleMed team. Susan has known Earl and Ruth Hauber for a number of years and participates in a CBM boat trip on an annual basis. In the coming year TaleMed plan to expand its partnership with project Amazonas.
Our company strongly believes in the mission of Project Amazonas and is excited to work with them more directly in the future. Be on the lookout in the coming year for more information and updates on Central Brazil Mission – we will be announcing opportunities to be on the next TaleMed trip soon!
TaleMed is pleased to announce our 2017 Calendar Photo Contest!

We want to help all travel health care professionals find your place, by seeing the places you have fallen in love with. Submit photos of the cities, season, views you have fallen in love with.
Four healthcare professionals that have found their place will receive an Echo Dot. Winners will be announced every 13 weeks! Eight honorable mention winners will also be chosen and announced in November 2017.
The twelve winners selected will see their photos in the 2018 Find Your Place Calendar. So set your cameras to high resolution and start snapping those photos. If you have already taken an award winning photo please feel free to submit. Photographs will be accepted from any healthcare professional that would like to participate.
